Situation
Networking Specialists, Inc. in Grand Forks is a regional technology consulting firm so in their technology field, Internet is extremely important. “More and more software solutions are a direct download from the vendor, so having a fast connection was becoming more and more critical,” said Vice President Brian Woinarowicz. “Since we had been using another provider’s DSL due to no other options for ISP, a good deal of our connectivity was dependent upon the static IP's issued from that provider. We were finding that as more and more client connectivity increased, speed started to slow down.”
Solution
Working with their local Midcontinent Business Solutions rep, they opted to take on a second ISP (Midcontinent Communications) to supplement the service they were getting. With the Internet service from Midcontinent, they immediately started using it to remove some of the constraints. Downloading materials at a much higher speed led to improvements in productivity. “While there are a number of ISPs (depending upon location), we've strived to, wherever possible, encourage our clients to consider using Midcontinent services," said Woinarowicz. “They have shown that they want to work with the clients to provide a solid solution.
